Aloha Medical Mission depends on donated medical supplies from many sources:
The overseas missions are very dependent on still-usable surgical and medical supplies normally discarded by hospitals such as gloves, sutures, gauze, scalpels, drains, and various catheters.
Still-usable large-item medical equipment, such as monitors, respirators, beds, anesthesia machines, cautery units, wheelchairs, dental chairs, and X-ray units, are regularly discarded by various facilities as they are replaced by newer models. We attempt to ship them to needy hospitals and clinics abroad. Even recycled office furniture can find a suitable home in an overseas medical center.
Certain medical supplies from private citizens, can be recycled through local health clinics or used overseas. For example, a used, but still working C-Pap ventilator, was recently donated by a patient's family and given to a sleep apnea patient through the Kalihi-Pālama Health Center.
In specific circumstances, such as helping in natural disaster relief efforts, AMM will help to ship donated items such as food, clothing, and basic medical supplies.
